About Us

The idea of the formation of Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya(AMEK) was muted in November 1991 in an international meeting convened by representatives of donor agencies supporting technical health delivery services in Kenya.

The meeting was held in Mombasa Kenya and challenges were given to all those involved in the field of technical health care services to promote the development of the technology and raise recognition and respect for the profession through an operation of a national professional society in health care technology.

Similar concern for such society in Kenya was being constantly voiced nationally and beyond. These challenges were taken seriously by a few individuals who immediately embarked on the drafting the society constitution and then applied for registration later. Arising from such efforts, AMEK was registered on the 9th day of July 1998 and the official launching was on the 27th day of November 1998 in Nairobi.
